Privacy policy

Who we are

Safe Water Networks Ltd ("SWaN", "we", "us") is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 16278076, with our registered office at 23 Darwin Avenue, Christchurch, Dorset BH23 2JB. You can reach us at info@swan.ws or on 01707 527 069.

What we collect

If you complete the contact form we collect the name, email address and message you give us. We do not ask for anything else, and you do not need to create an account to use this site. If you email or telephone us instead, we hold whatever you choose to tell us. Our hosting provider also keeps standard web server logs, which include visitors’ IP addresses, for security and diagnostics.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use the details you send through the contact form for one purpose: to answer your enquiry and, where it leads to work, to carry that work out. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to someone who has asked us to get in touch — and, where we go on to provide services, performance of a contract. We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not build profiles or make automated decisions about you.

Who sees it

Enquiries reach our own mailbox and are seen by SWaN staff dealing with your request. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. Our website host and our email provider process it on our behalf under contract. We may disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence for two years from our last contact with you, after which it is deleted. Where an enquiry becomes a contract, the records are kept for as long as we need them for the work and for the periods required by law and our insurers.

Where it is held

Enquiries are held in our email system and on our website host’s servers. Both are located in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. If that changes we will say so here and make sure appropriate safeguards are in place.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email info@swan.ws. We will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.

Terms & conditions

Scope

These terms govern your use of this website. They are not the terms on which we provide our services — those are set out in the proposal, quotation or contract we agree with you separately, and where the two differ, the contract takes precedence.

Using this site

You may read, print and download material from this site for your own use or for the internal use of your organisation. You may not republish it commercially, present it as your own, or use the site in a way that damages it, interferes with anyone else’s use of it, or breaks the law.

Accuracy and reliance

The information here describes our services in general terms and is offered in good faith. Water quality and water safety are site-specific: guidance that is right for one system can be wrong for another. Nothing on this website is advice for your particular circumstances, and you should not act on it without speaking to us or to another suitably qualified person. We make no promise that the content is complete or current, and we may change it without notice.

Intellectual property

The content, design, logo and photographs on this site belong to Safe Water Networks Ltd or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright and trade mark law.

Links to other sites

Where we link to another organisation’s website we do so because we think it is useful. We have no control over those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

Our liability

We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of this website, or from reliance on its contents, including loss of profit, loss of business or any indirect or consequential loss.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Last reviewed 18 October 2026.

Accessibility statement

Our commitment

We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including anyone using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard alone, or relying on magnification or high contrast. We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA.

What we have done

The site is built to work at any screen size down to a phone, with text that reflows rather than requiring horizontal scrolling. Colour contrast follows a defined palette, headings are used in a meaningful order, images carry alternative text, and the site can be operated with a keyboard.

Where we currently fall short

We have not yet commissioned a formal accessibility audit, so this statement reflects our own assessment rather than an independent one. Several photographs are still placeholders and will be replaced. We have not yet tested the site against the full range of assistive technologies.

Telling us about a problem

If you find something on this site you cannot use, or you need information from it in another format — large print, plain text or audio, for example — email info@swan.ws or call 01707 527 069 and tell us what you need. We will reply within five working days and do our best to provide it.

Enforcement

If you contact us about an accessibility problem and are not happy with our response, you can raise it with the Equality Advisory and Support Service at equalityadvisoryservice.com. Last reviewed 18 October 2026.
